I told myself when I created this blog that I wanted it to be a resource for the beginner artist and curious crafters. In my opinion, offering recommendation is the perfect way to do that. Like most crafters, finding an art supply that work just right for me is an orgasmic experience, critical to the inspiration process of creating quality art. I have spent many a years wandering the isles at Michaels and flipping through my Real Simple Magazines in search of the perfect tools. My plan is to share those fantastic tools with you and today I’m starting with one of the most basic: the pen.
As an obsessive doodler I find it difficult to talk on the phone without my doodle pad. I don’t enjoy work unless I have breaks to draw and I spend a great deal of my free time perfecting fonts (More on that in another blog). Now, this may sound a little over the top, but I take doodling very seriously and I am positive I would not be as successful if it wasn’t for my Uni-ball Vision Elite Bold 0.8 mm Rollerball Pens. These suckers have changed my life.
If you spend any time researching the product, you will likely find some positive press releases. Recently, Uni-ball partnered with the Identity Theft Resource Center to raise awareness about identity theft. You see, the Uni-ball special ink doesn’t wash out at all, protecting you against check fraud. This super ink technology is causing quite an exciting stir for the company this tax period, and it doesn’t hurt Uni-ball that their product is bad-ass.
Yes, since the moment I used my first Uni-ball pen I became their #1 fan. First off, they have this spectacular grip that lends so well to tedious work or detailed drawings. I find myself playing with the pens almost as much as I draw with them. Just the look alone is simple, modern and clean, all things I am a huge fan of. The color options are fantastic (black, red, orange, pink, purple, green and blue), though I do constantly wish they had a yellow. They look professional and give off a creative air than I personally can’t get enough of.
My favorite aspect of the pens (though the look is a close second) is their elite performance. They glide onto the page with precision. I never have to stop and go over things again, which I love. The pens deploy the perfect amount of ink, always visible, making large-scale projects and titling is a piece of cake. They dry quickly and blend together with ease. What more could a crafter ask for?
If you find something great, recommend it. If not, steal ideas from others.

What do you think of the new pen as seen on TV as the pen to steal?? Btw…like the idea just as much as the photo or the pens with your doodles.
